The Landscape Design Process usually consists of the following phases:

Preliminary Consulation - Initial discussions with client to clarify goals.

Property Analysis - Existing site conditions such as topography, wind, light, vegetation, and sightlines are reviewed. Base materals might include building and plot plans, septic system 'as-builts', & any other site related information.

Design Development - A preliminary layout is prepared using rough, broad brush sketches to stimulate discussion of opportunities as well as constraints. Studies are done with close attention to the integration of interior and exterior space. Pathways, parking, entry, play, views & screening are among the many issues which arise. The designer often interfaces with the architect in this phase.

Master Plan - The master plan is a concept plan which includes walkways & parking, paving & wall materials, fencing, lighting, as well as a planting plan and detailed plant list. Using this document, the client & designer have a basis for determination of a budget as well as construction phasing.

Procurement of Contractors - The designer is able to assist clients in the selection of qualified contractors.

Plant Selection - It is strongly suggested that the designer select and place all plant materials. Healthy plants and proper planting practices greatly improve the success of any landscape.

Supervision of Site Work - Site visits and supervision of work is separate and shall be billed at an hourly rate.

Follow-up Inspection - During this visit, a punch list is made and future phasing may be discussed.
